Genuine Public Review

Editorial policy

Genuine Public Review aims to make public-facing services easier to understand through careful, readable explanations. We distinguish what an article can establish from what it cannot, and revise material when a meaningful error is brought to our attention.

Accuracy and clarity

We check names, descriptions and factual statements against suitable material before publication, and take care not to present a general observation as a rule that applies everywhere. Articles should make their scope clear, explain relevant uncertainty and use plain language. Where a topic depends on local arrangements, readers are told that details may differ.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for their relevance to readers and fit with the publication's remit. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage or a favourable account. We aim to describe limitations and trade-offs fairly, rather than treating an attractive claim as a settled conclusion.

Corrections

Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. We review the passage and, where a correction is warranted, update the article and identify the change in a clear way. Questions of interpretation are considered separately from factual errors, and material revisions are made when they affect a reader's understanding.

Partnerships and illustrations

Paid, supplied or partner material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Such material does not determine editorial conclusions. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when an illustration is AI-generated, it is identified as such.
